As I am now putting together my final IRB Packet I am feeling like I have a understanding of what needs to be done. This has been a very lengthy process and one that I would not want to do again but it has caused me to look at my craft of teaching in a different way. It is my hope that my IRB packet meets approval. Areas that I struggled most with were figuring out the proper assessments to use to measure my students progress. I was originally going to use Power Point as my formal assessment. However, I realized that it would be to difficult to show gains in student achievement. As a result I adjusted my Action Research to include Power Point as a means of review for tests. Even more then that I made Power Point a student driven review. It is my hope that a student driven teacher directed Power Point will increase my students achievement on their exams. Also, I am hopeful that my students will take more of an active role in the learning process. Hence the idea of the student driven review. So, as I have reflected on the IRB approval process it has definately been a challenge however, I feel optimistic that at this point I have a quality product. Even though the process has been challenging at times it has allowed me to reflect on my profession and attempt to make improvements to better my students achievement.
